KCW . DAY THREE

Depois do vestido-roupão e, tal como prometido, hoje vou mostrar as fotografias do fato de banho que fiz para a Inês.

Sempre tive vontade de fazer os fatos de banho das minhas filhas porque raramente gosto dos que se veem nas lojas (pelo menos nas lojas com preços razoáveis…)
O ano passado fiz este para a Teresa com um molde da revista Burda mas, este ano, resolvi fazer eu o molde para ficar mesmo como eu gosto.
Usei um tecido de algodão muito fininho aproveitado de um vestido que comprei na feira por 1 ou 2 euros e juntei um debrum em bordado inglês na costura da cintura.

Entretanto já comprei umas malhas para fazer mais fatos de banho para elas (cada verão as miúdas “gastam” uns cinco cada uma!). O único problema é eu nunca ter trabalhado com malhas. Bom, nada experimentar! Alguém tem alguma dica para me dar?

 Yesterday I've made a "beach towel dress" and, as promised, today I’m showing you photos of the bathing suit I made for Agnes.
I always wanted to make my daughters’ swimsuits as I rarely like the ones I see in stores (at least in the stores with reasonable prices ...)
Last year I made this one for Teresa with a pattern from Burda magazine but, this time, I decided to draft my own pattern.
The fabric is a lightweight cotton from a dress I bought at Cascais street market for 1 or 2 euros. To make it extra-special I added a bit of broderie anglaise at the waist seam.
 I’ve already bought some knitting fabric to sew more bathing suits to them (Teresa and Ines need, at least, five swimsuits each for this summer!). But I’ve never sewed with knits… Well, let’s just give it a try! Does anyone have any tips for me?

Um ano! Viva!
Faz um ano que comecei a escrever e a fotografar para “alimentar” este blog. Faz pouco mais de um ano que peguei na velha máquina de costura da Avó Margarida e comecei a costurar…

WINDSURF

Tem estado vento forte no Guincho. Muito bom para fazer windsurf!

PASSEIO NO GUINCHO . A WALK IN GUINCHO

Tem estado muito vento no guincho.
No domingo estava impossível na praia por isso fomos dar um passeio a pé.
As miúdas aproveitaram para levar os seus mealheiros.

E quando chegamos à praia ficaram todas contentes de poderem pagar os seus próprios gelados.

O passadiço não poderia ser melhor sitio para tirar fotografias as miúdas…

É um passeio fantástico para ser feito em família. Mas, como tem zonas com escadas não é aconselhável para carinhos de bebé. Indo de carro pode estacionar junto ao lado sul da praia, no parque da Estalagem do Muchaço. Depois é só atravessar a estrada principal e seguir as indicações. Com as crianças demora uns 30 minutos a percorrer todo o percurso. Há placards com mapas e informações sobre a flora e a fauna que os miúdos adoram.

 

 

 

It's been windy at Guincho. Last Sunday it was impossible to go to the beach so we went for a walk. The girls grab the opportunity to bring their piggy banks. And when we got to the beach they were so happy to be able to pay for their ice cream. The walkway could be no better place to take pictures of the girls ... It is a fantastic tour for families with kids. But, as there are some stairs is not advisable for strollers. If you go by car you can park along the south side of the beach, at the Estalagem do Muchaço parking lot. Then just cross the main road and follow signs. With children it takes about 30 minutes to make the round walk. There are bulletin boards with maps and information about the flora and fauna that kids love.

UM LIVRO PARA A TERESA . A BOOK FOR TERESA

A Teresa é uma desenhadora compulsiva, tal como já se viu aqui.

Ao principio desenhava a família, as amigas, a casa… Mas agora já que desenhar outras imagens mais complicadas por isso comprei-lhe o livro 50 COISAS PARA DESENHAR E PINTAR da EDICARE.

Foi um sucesso!

Teresa is a compulsive drawer, as we have seen here. At first she used to draw our family, her friends, our home… But now she is willing to make some more complicated drawings so I bought her the Portuguese version of the book 50 THINGS TO DRAW AND PAINT from USBORNE.

It was a success!

TUTORIAL FOR A WINDSCREEN OR UMBRELLA BAG . ENGLISH VERSION

With the girls and all the “stuff" I have to take to the beach it is fundamental to have everything organized. As my windscreen had no bag, it was always the first thing to fall on the ground! When I finally decided to make the bag, I ended up sewing another to give to my friend Catarina for her birthday. And I made this tutorial so you can make your own too.

 

MATERIALS:

You will need:

-55cm of fabric (heavy cotton works great) with a minimum width of 120cm;
-1m of 1cm wide cotton ribbon;
- One plastic locking.
My windscreen is 102cm in length and 25cm in diameter. If yours is different, you must adapt the indicated measures.

CUT THE FABRIC

For the bag cut a rectangle of fabric with 120x45cm.
For the handle cut a rectangle of fabric with 55x10cm.

MAKE THE HANDLE

Finish the two shorter raw edges of the fabric with zigzag (or a serger) so they don’t fray. Fold the fabric in two lengthwise, right sides together, and iron to keep it in place. Pin and sew along the longer edge, 1cm from the edge. With the help of a safety pin turn the right side out and iron for a sharp finish.

If you want to simplify this step just buy a strong cotton webbing of twill tape (the kind used for belts or bag’s straps) and use it to make the handle.

MAKE THE BAG

Finish the two shorter raw edges and long raw edge of the fabric with zigzag (or a serger) so they don’t fray. 

In the shorter edge that was kept unfinished fold 1cm, wrong sides together, and then another 1.5 cm, right side against wrong side. Iron in place and pin it but don´t sew it now. This hem is where the closing cotton ribbon will go.

Fold the fabric in two lengthwise, right sides together. Pin the handle to the inside of the bag’s fabric 38 cm from lower limit and 28cm from the upper limit. Do not forget to confirm that the handle is straight and away from the edges that will be sewn. Sew, 1 cm from the edge, along the lower short edge and along the long edge where the handles are. Stop 10 cm from the upper limit of the bag.

Open the seams with the iron and continue to press the fabric following the seam line in the upper part that was kept open. Topstitch the opening as close to the border as you can.

Topstitch the hem that was pinned before as close to the border as you can. Turn right side out and iron. With the help of a safety pin insert the cotton ribbon into the upper hem of the bag. Apply the locking and knot the two ends of the ribbon.

Put your windscreen or sun umbrella inside the bag and go to the beach!

RECEITA PARA SACO DE PARA-VENTO OU DE GUARDA-SOL . VERSÃO EM PORTUGUES

Com as miúdas e “tralha” que tenho que levar para a praia é fundamental ter tudo organizado.

Como o meu para-vento não tinha capa era sempre a primeira coisa a cair no chão! Resolvi fazer-lhe uma capa e acabei por fazer outra igual para dar de presente de anos à minha amiga Catarina. Aproveitei e organizei também este tutorial para que possa fazer o seu.

MATERIAS:

O meu para-vento tem 102cm de comprimento e 25cm de diâmetro. Se o seu é diferente, deverá fazer a adaptação das medidas indicadas.

-55cm de tecido (algodão grosso é perfeito) com mínimo 120cm de largura

-1m de fita de algodão com 1cm de largura

-Um fecho “aperta cordão”

CORTAR O TECIDO

Para o saco corte um retângulo de tecido com 120x45cm.

Para a alça corte um retângulo de tecido com 55x10cm.

EXECUÇÃO DA ALÇA

Remate com ponto zig-zag os dois lados mais curtos do tecido para que não se desfiem.

Dobre o tecido em dois no sentido do comprimento, frente contra frente, e engome para vincar.

Cosa ao longo do lado mais comprido, a 1cm da borda.

Com a ajuda de um alfinete de dama vire o lado direito para fora e engome.

Se quiser simplificar pode comprar uma fita de algodão forte (tipo as que se usam para cintos ou alças de sacos) e usa-la para fazer a alça.

EXECUÇÃO DO SACO

Remate com ponto zig-zag os dois lados mais longos e um lado mais curto do tecido para que não se desfiem.

Ao longo do lado mais curto que ficou inacabado faça uma dobra de 1cm e depois outra de 1,5cm para o lado do avesso. Engome para vincar e renda com alfinetes mas não cosa ainda. Esta bainha servirá para enfiar a fita de fechar o saco.

Dobre o tecido em dois no sentido do comprimento, frente contra frente, e engome para vincar.

Prenda com alfinetes as alças no interior do tecido a 38cm limite inferior do saco e a 28cm do limite superior. Não se esqueça de confirmar que as alças estão direitas e afastadas das extremidades que vão ser cosidas.

Cosa, a 1cm da borda, ao longo do lado inferior mais curto e do lado mais longo onde prendeu as alças parando a 10cm do limite superior do saco.

Abra a costura com o ferro e continue a vincar o tecido no seguimento da costura na zona superior que ficou aberta. Pesponte a abertura o mais perto possível do limite.

Pesponte a bainha que servira para enfiar a fita de fechar o saco o mais perto possível do limite.

Vire o lado direito para fora e engome.

Com a ajuda de um alfinete de dama insira a fita de algodão na bainha superior do saco. Aplique o fecho “aperta-cordão” e dê um nó nas duas pontas da fita.

Ponha o para-vento ou o guarda-sol dentro do saco e vá para a praia!
