Last March I was “strolling” through my favorite blogs when I saw that An (from the great blog StraightGrain, check out her amazing creations!) was looking for someone to test her Bubble Dress PDF Pattern in size 5. As Teresa is 5 and a half years I signed up and, shortly afterwards, I had in my yahoo mailbox the pattern and instructions to make a new dress for my oldest daughter.I picked a piece of pink and white striped seersucker cotton (the same as in this dress) from my stack, printed the pattern and set to work. This is An’s first pattern but both the instructions and the pattern itself are fantastic: clear, simple and effective! But the best part was that I could complete the dress in just two hours! And I'm very, very slow seamstress. I think I had never made a piece of clothing so quickly! The dress was just perfect and Teresa liked it so much that, as the weather was still a bit cold, she wore it for the first time with a long sleeve tee and leggings. It was not the coolest outfit, but it was the best we could do...I think Teresa liked this dress so much especially because it was extremely comfortable from the day she tried it on for the first time. Its shape is somehow wide and short (though in the pattern currently sold by An the dress is slightly longer) which allows her to jump and play around.I was also very pleased with the result! Unfortunately the fabric I have left is not enough to make a dress like this for Ines, but I already have an idea to get an “almost” matching outfit for her… This dress photo shoot was successively postponed but last week I finally took some pictures taking advantage of the sunny warm weather.
For those who think that my daughters are always in a good mood for a photo shoot and willing to wear the clothes I sew, well, unfortunately that’s not true! This time I had to "buy off" Teresa with an ice-cream…
But then everything went smoothly and I think she enjoyed strolling her baby around and posing for the photos!
An is currently hosting a great event, the Kids Clothes Belgian Style, and she will soon be launching a new pattern so check her blog for news and inspiration!
Adoro!
Boas costuras, Ana Sofia
PS. O carrinho do bebé é uma delicia!
Your blog is gorgeous - just found it! Will be following you:) I am going to be a guest on An's blog in a few weeks for the Belgian series! All your creations are really beautiful!! Suz (sewpony)
ResponderEliminarOh my goodness!!!!! I LOVE this dress in seersucker. My daughter doesn't like anything that looks unusual, and sadly, the bubble dress was vetoed, but I'm going to try to sway her with this version on your little tiny dancer. So incredibly cute!!!
ResponderEliminarYou have a gorgeous little model, you take great photos, and you made a beautiful dress :)
