I’ve made a
cardi! A knit cardi! I am so happy!
I’ve always
had issues sewing with knits but, when I saw Willow and Co. Aster Cardigan, I
knew I had to give it a try. So I bought a new - but cheap and not fancy at all
- sewing machine and a piece of not very stretchy knit and finally went for it.
You know what? It wasn’t as hard as I thought! And I think I will be sewing
a lot more with knits from now on.
The
Pattern: Aster Cardigan by Vanessa from lbg-studio for Willow and Co. Patterns. This
is such a simple and easy pattern to sew. Yet the result is super clean and professional!
The original pattern comes with a collar (actually it comes with two lovely types
of collar) but, this time, I’ve decided to make it a little bit different: I’ve
finished the neckline with bias tape in order to close the cardigan with a bow.
Fabric /Notions:
White and red striped knit from my local shop (Os Bispos) and white and navy
polka dot bias tape I had on my stash.
We have
been postponing the photo shot all week as Teresa was not in the mood for
photos but today we really had to do it and all I got was this grumpy face…
..then, when Teresa
started having fun, she wouldn’t show the cardigan!
Enough
photos for today!
PS. Do you
know Willow and Co. is hosting a fantastic “back to school” contest? Check it
out here and don’t forget to add your Willow and Co. creations!
PS (for Portuguese readers). A minha nova maquina foi comprada no LIDL por 100 Euros e estou impressionada com a relação qualidade/preço desta maquina. Uma optima compra para alguém que se queira iniciar nas costuras!
Such an adorable outfit!! I love how you changed it up to tie!
ResponderEliminarThank you! This was a last minute decision and I am glad I did it!
EliminarYey for knits! Glad you start to like them. They are so comfortable to wear...
ResponderEliminarYou know you are one of the reasons why I've started sewing with knits?! Thank you for all the support, Annika!
EliminarI like the way you choose to close the cardigan. Beautiful colours too.
ResponderEliminarThank you! I always end up choosing very classical colors (what can be more classic the kids wearing red, white and navy?!). One day I will try to pick edgier color combinations for my creations. I am sure my daughters will love it!
EliminarSo cute, Marta! I love your idea, I will be making one like that for sure. :) Teresa is the cutest!
ResponderEliminarThank you Olga! I can't wait to see your Bow Aster!

ResponderEliminarThat's lovely and really wearable. I'm scared of knits too. But need to get over my fear, because I know these are the things my little girl would actually wear!
ResponderEliminarThank you Victoria! Yes, knits are scary! But they are so comfy I had to give them a try!
EliminarYou should start with a not very stretchy or think knit and I am sure you will nail it!
Can't wait to see your knit creations!
Super cute!
ResponderEliminarI love the red stripes (and how awesome is a new sewing machine?) - she looks straight out of a Boden catalogue :)
I've told you before, Teresa is the most photogenic girl I know. She looks perfect even with a grumpy face :)
Wow! Boden might be my favorite kids store, Sofia. What a great compliment!
EliminarAnd yes, I think I am so lucky to have such a great model at home... :)
By the way, the striped tee Teresa is wearing is actually from Mini Boden!
Eliminar(Comprada por 2€ na feira de Carcavelos!)
oh I love this so much! It really is perfect! And I love the photos just as much! Teresa is so pretty and I adore her grumpy face! <3
ResponderEliminarThank you Rachel!
EliminarSometimes kids end up looking kind of cool with grumpy faces... :)
Loved it so much!! The ties are great!! I'll copy your idea for sure haha ;) can't wait to see more of your knit projects.
ResponderEliminarThank you Ines! I can't wait to sew more with knits! I think I am addicted...
EliminarADORO! Ta mesmo giro o Aster... Fica um maximo sem a gola e com a "fitinha"!!!
ResponderEliminarMuito obrigada Rita! Acho que este Aster ficou com um estilo muito português. Um molde a repetir muitas e muitas vezes!
