PREGAS . PLEATS

Sempre que vou a uma livraria costumo dar uma vista de olhos na secção de crafts e costura. Da última vez encontrei um livro que me surpreendeu. Ao contrário do habitual, não é um livro de projetos mas um livro de técnicas: “Moda + Costura: Drapeados,  franzidos, ruches e pregas” da Brunella Giannangeli.
Adorei as “Pregas laços” e resolvi usa-las numa nova carteira.

Aqui está ela já pronta a usar!

O tecido exterior é um vichy cinzento e branco aproveitado de uma almofada de sofá do Ikea (tal como o da carteira que fiz para a minha mãe) e para o forro usei um resto de algodão encarnado com bolas brancas. O fecho é original da almofada por isso nem tive o trabalho de o coser (ufa!).
Resisti a comprar o livro (o meu “plafond” mensal de livros já estava esgotado!) mas fiquei com mais algumas técnicas na memória e espero em breve mostrar outros projetos com pregas, franzidos e afins.

 

 

Whenever I go to a bookstore I usually take a look at the crafts and sewing sections. Last time I found a book that surprised me as it was not a book with projects but about techniques: "Couture Unfolded: Innovative Pleats, Folds and Draping in Fashion Design" by BrunellaGiannangeli.
I was immediately caught by the "Bow pleats" (that’s maybe not the exact name as the book I saw was Portuguese) and decided to use them in a new handbag. Here it is ready to go!
The outer fabric is a gray and white vichy from an Ikea sofa pillow (like the one on my mom’s handbag) and for the lining I used some red polka dot cotton from my fabric stacks. The zipper is originally from the pillow so I didn’t have to sew it (that’s great as I’m not really comfortable with zippers).
I could resist buying the book (my monthly "plafond" for books was already sold out!) but I have a few more techniques in my memory so sooner or later I will show you more pleats, ruffles and folds…
