SHORTS ON THE LINE . BUBBLE SHORTS

This year's edition of "Shortson the Line" at Imagine Gnats blog is getting to an end so today is the perfect day to show you a new pair of shorts!
This spring I had the pleasure of testing the Bubble Dress Pattern by An fromThe Straight Grain. I made a dress in pink and white stripped seersucker for Teresa that she loved (take a look here!). I wanted to sew another one for Inês but I didn´t have enough fabric so I decided to make her a pair of shorts. Bubble Shorts, of course!
Since I don’t have a basic shorts pattern I really like (it seems to me that I will not resist Dana’s new shorts pattern...), I got my hands on my trusty Bubble Pockets Shorts Pattern by Heidi from Elegance and Elephants and turned it up into the shorts I had imagined.
These shorts turned out to be very simple to sew! You can make them with any other basic shorts pattern. For the lining pieces just cut the fabric as you would do for a regular pair of shorts. For the outer pieces add up a few inches in width and height to the original pattern. Start by sewing both shorts separately. Gather the outer shorts legs’ hem until they have the same diameter as the lining shorts and then sew legs’ hems togheter.
Finally add up the waistband.
It could not be easier, could it?
This way I can dress Teresa and Ines alike but they can both have their own style!
PS - It has been 42ºC in Lisbon for the past few days and I could not convince Ines to put on a shirt for the photo-shoot...
